International business development

DFSME works to enhance the possibilities for Danish SMEs to expand their businesses to foreign markets. We encourage Danish SMEs to focus on the growing economies, such as the BRIC countries, and advocate for improving the business support system towards the special needs and conditions of SMEs. SMEs constitutes the basis of economic growth, employment and innovation in the Danish economy. SMEs who are interested in expanding their business and engage in sustainable business development in emerging markets, will receive sufficient support and guidance.

For SMEs to increase their presence and activities in emerging markets, it requires a deliberate policy accommodating the needs of Danish SMEs. DFSME is continuously engaging in dialogues with relevant policymakers and ministers to increase the political awareness on the pending issue.

We shape the national and international agenda through participation in relevant networks and memberships of various boards and organisations:

• DFSME is a co-founder and board member of the Danish Ethical Trading Initiative

• DFSME is represented in the Danish council on CSR.

• DFSME is a member of the UN Global Compact.

• DFSME works closely together with Danish Trade Council.

• DFSME works closely together with Danida under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

• DFSME works closely together with the Ministry of Business and Growth of Denmark.

• DFSME works closely together with the EU Comission on relevant CSR policies and initiatives.

• DFSME is represented in the Copenhagen Business School Sustainable Sourcing and CSR Alumni.
